Development was motivated by customer feedback. Mayuket is developed based on various customer comments regarding blankets, such as feeling warm but prickly, being heavy, stuffy, not being sensitive to static electricity, etc. Cotton blankets do not have enough heat retention. As a manufacturer involved in sleep, shouldn’t we solve our customers’ problems and create comfortable blankets that allow them to sleep soundly?

It’s soft to the touch, lightweight, doesn’t get stuffy, and is warm. Is it possible to create a safe blanket that does not easily generate static electricity?

We started development with that in mind.

Takanoguchi has been a cotton textile production area since the Edo period. We are familiar with the characteristics of cotton. The pile weaving technology that we have cultivated over many years brings out the best qualities of cotton.

Why uneven waves? Why “Mayu” ket?

First of all, cotton fibers are hollow, so they retain air and provide warmth. Furthermore, the pile fabric increases heat retention. However, this alone is not enough to convince customers who are not satisfied with regular cotton blankets. I was wondering if there was a way to create more air layers without relying on chemistry.

I just happened to have a cocoon that makes silk thread on hand, and I wondered what it would be like to make a blanket like this. The cocoon also has the role of protecting the pupa from changes in outside temperature. Why not cut it in half? When I laid them out on a table, they looked like air capsules lined up.

This shape was born from the idea of ​​trying to weave it and making it into a blanket.

This is also the origin of the name Mayuket.

Focus on the fit for a good night’s sleep…

Bedding that is hung over the body is required to “follow the body without interfering with the ability to turn over or losing warmth.”
It was good to be able to create waves that held air, but I’ve come to realize that the width and length of the waves can make a difference in how good or bad the fit is. In order to create a perfect fit without clinging to the body, we repeatedly made prototypes…The wave size of Mayuket was the result of a soft and gentle comfort that hugs the body.

[How to care]
– Can be washed in a home washing machine. In that case, please use a laundry net and a waste collection net.
– At first, the loose fluff will fall off during use and washing, but it will gradually calm down.
– The texture of the surface may change after washing, but the texture of the fluff will improve with proper brushing.
・Please avoid tumble drying.
・Polyurethane deteriorates over time.
